Artist Statement

Douhua literally means soybean flower. It melts the moment it touches your tongue, yet it still holds its shape in the bowl. That softness with quiet strength is what I love about it. Douhua changes meaning depending on where you are.
Some people eat it sweet, others eat it salty.
Some call it breakfast, others treat it as comfort.
The same thing can be many things to different people.

This gentle absurdity reminds me of the children in my paintings. Like Douhua, they are soft but not weak, tender yet resilient. Their porcelain-like faces hold both innocence and complexity, just like the way Douhua holds its form while feeling delicate.
Their world may seem simple, but it reflects the adult world in subtle ways.

These textures, both tender and strange, inspire the way I paint and the stories I want to tell.

豆花，名字聽起來就像一朵花。
入口即化，卻又能安靜地待在碗裡，不碎、不亂。
這種「柔軟裡帶著力量」的質地，讓我一直念念不忘。

在不同地方，豆花有不同的吃法。
有人吃甜的，有人吃鹹的；
有人把它當早餐，有人把它當安慰。
同樣的東西，卻能變成很多樣子。

這種溫柔的荒誕感，讓我想到我畫裡的孩子。
他們像豆花一樣，柔軟卻不脆弱，細膩卻有韌性。
瓷娃娃般的臉，看似天真，卻藏著複雜；
就像豆花，看起來易碎，卻能穩穩支撐自己的形狀。
他們的小小世界，也悄悄映照著大人的世界。

這種柔軟、奇妙、又帶著力量的質地，成了我創作的靈感來源。
